Internet Speed on Mars
Everybody knows that technically not possible to live on the moon but we can go there that’s why we need internet on the moon as well.
If I talk how important the internet on the earth. Just suppose that you are reading my article with the help of internet. If I did not have an internet then I could not reach myself to you.
So we are using antennas, satellites, wires, and placing cables throughout the sea to supply internet to the whole earth.
But if we talk that how we will supply internet from earth to 400 km above to the ISS or 384,000 km to the moon. So how this is possible because you cannot be wiring there, neither can use satellites there and in fact, you cannot use radio waves there too.
But if I tell you that you can use the internet there and faster than earth. You can easily watch any Netflix HD video without buffering.
So if you want this type of internet in space then be happy because NASA planned a technique in which they can use Laser Internet to bring into space.
This research is not of today It’s been working for the past four-five years. And in the coming two-three years, we will use approx. 1Gbps which is definitely fast. 1Gbps means you can download 1Gb File or Video in just 10-12 secs.
Laser Internet
Why we use Laser internet here? first of all, we need to understand the difference between Radio waves and laser. Radio waves have low bandwidth and the second thing is this waves more scatter than laser because how we captured this waves because they are scattered.
And if we use high-frequency internet waves then here we will get more bandwidth with good signals because these waves are not too much spread then we can easily capture these waves.
How does it work?
It’s not so easy to do because It does not happen, that we took a transmitter here and put a receiver there. And We transmit the rays and receiver receive those waves and data is generated.
No, at all, this process does not happen like this. Here we use LCRD which stands for Laser communication Relay Demonstration.
Just like a Relay race. Here the beam is transferred through many satellites who transfer the signals from one to another and this process is continuous till reaching the receiver.

If I talk about the speed we will get 1 Gbps. When NASA tested this process in the moon they got 19Mbps download speed and 622Mbps upload speed.
This is not only for internet use. We can also use it for communication with aircrafts, satellites etc without any buffering. We can do live HD calls.
Someone says that we will easily go to space by 2020 someone says in 2025. But when will go to space then we will get fast internet there.
